If you were Scolari - who would be on your Chelsea shopping list?

shopping-list.jpgOkay, the rules are simple. You're allowed five players, from anywhere in the world (money is not an issue). This is the world Big Phil will find himself in when he finally arrives in west London after Euro 2008.

But who would you sign if you were Phil? Personally my shopping list would look like this...

Beckham (Roman is the only man who could afford to bring him back from the States, he could still do a decent job, and would finally secure Chelsea's status as a global brand).

Quaresma (to come on when Beckham's looking old and knackered)

Villa (because Liverpool won't sell Torres)

Ronaldinho (is he past it? Well nobody can be sure, but finding out would be fun)

Flamini (a much better option to replace Lampard than Deco).

Let me know who you would go for and why by clicking comments below and bashing in your very own list...

Ribery - Although you could tell he was getting frustrated after France went down against the Netherlands, his speed, aggression, and potential would fit in well in the premier league.

Villa - If only so Chelsea can stop playing the long-punt-to-the-targetman's-head tactic. I think he’d really help open up the midfield for guys like Ballack and Essien.

Lahm - I know he'd never leave Bayern (though perhaps Ballack could entice?), but he's the best outside back in the world—especially in terms of defensive and offensive ability.

Arshavin – As the Euros have proven so far, he can inspire a team with his work rate and skill. C’mon Roman, you know you want to.

Sneijder – Though it could get busy in the attacking-mid zone, I think he would be a great counterpart to Ballack (especially with Essien behind him).

Basically what I’m trying to say is we damn well better not lose Essien, and if we don’t, we need to stop wasting his talent on the backline.

Villa - He proved his worth so far in Euro 08, and I would say his finishing ability and technique are stronger than Torres's. Honestly, Anelka should perform best coming off the bench in tight situations where he can apply pressure to the central defenders with his size. Villa would be instrumental in the fluid movement of the Chelsea offense early in the game. A Drogba/Villa combo would be killer.

Quaresma - He would be an excellent signing by providing winger-duty coverage from both the left and right sides of the field. Malouda and Wright-Phillips are limited to only one wing (left and right, respectively) and Quaresma would prove to be handy in substitution roles or to fill in when Malouda or Cole are tired. Also, he gives flexibility to Chelsea's attack plans - he can convert into a supporting striker's role during a game.

Ribery - Perhaps better than Quaresma, but the Portuguese factor might work better with Big Phil. If Quaresma goes somewhere else, Ribery should be a definite target. And also, what if Ribery's injury reoccurs?

Arshavin - Finally, a Russian worth looking at. Chances are, teams ranging from Real Madrid to Tottenham to Werder Bremen will be chasing him this summer. Chelsea has the upper hand though - Roman.

Joe Hart - Cech is getting old and rusty. This young star is a gamble, but a good one.
